Thoughts on Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I wanted to give some thoughts on the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Not to Be Venerated

My political positions are no secret. I’m sure everyone knows that I didn’t side with Ginsburg on… probably anything. The amount of people I’ve seen who want to “honor her legacy” is mildly nauseating. She is, after all, a woman who was in favor of the wholesale slaughter of unborn children. Any person who uses their public office to protect the rights of child-murderers is not worthy of any respect. Nor should we venerate them in death “despite our differences.”

Theological Onions

Let me tell you about theological onions. I hate onions. I always have. Many foods you don’t like when you’re young, and with age your tastebuds develop. Sometimes, though, there’s a food you don’t like, and it never changes. I never liked onions, and to this day—as a twenty-six-year-old man—I still hate them.

Two Types of People in the Gospel of John

There are many types of people in the world. We have ways of classifying people that significantly pares down the amount of categories available. Socioeconomic classification, geographical classification, ethnicity, what era of hardcore punk you like. It all serves to put people in neat boxes and wrap our minds around what defines a person, but there’s a significant classification of people that can reduce our options down to two: the people of God, and everyone else.

Death in Retrofuture

Death is a prevalent theme in the band Tiger Army’s lyrical content. I’m a huge fan, and I have been for fifteen years. Since I’ve been paying attention to the lyrics of Nick 13 for all these years, I’ve noticed some themes get built upon with proceeding releases. What I noticed about their most recent release, Retrofuture, is Nick’s evolved view of death.

A Biblical Worldview of Disgust

There’s a worldview behind everything. From the atoms that form us, to the stars shining above us, to the sharks swimming in the ocean. There’s an origin and a meaning behind it all. Even someone who believes things are created by time and chance still believe a purpose is being served.
